On Thursday 2nd October, we hosted our third annual Charity Sew Day here at Create and Sew Studio and what a wonderful day it was!
Every year, local sewists come together to use their time and skills to sew drainage bags and mastectomy/lumpectomy pillows for patients at our local hospital’s breast care unit. These handmade items offer a little extra comfort during recovery and are always so gratefully received by the team at Sellers Ward, where we delivered the drain bags this week.
This event has now become a real Create and Sew tradition, and it’s something I look forward to each year. I’m always blown away by the kindness and generosity of everyone who comes along - many of whom have supported this day since the very beginning.
A special thank you goes to Julie Taylor from Making for Charity, who helps make this day run so smoothly, and to every single person who joined us to sew, chat, cut fabric, and support others through creativity.
“It’s always heart-warming to see so many wonderful people come together to give their time and skills for such an important cause. It’s amazing what can be achieved when creativity and compassion come together.”
If you’d like to get involved and make drainage bags or mastectomy pillows yourself, you can download the free templates/instructions below.
Whether you sew one item or a few, every single contribution makes a difference.
Thank you again to everyone who supported, stitched, or spread the word - you make Create and Sew Studio such a special place.
A Big Thank You
